You can load thicker stock there but you are tempting fate in terms of surface roughing and perhaps even jamming for thicker stock, such as cotton rag and so-called “fine art” papers (like Epson’s Velvet Fine Art), you are limited to single feed work through the front. There is a front and stack load type feeder, although stacking is practically limited to those papers rated at or below about 240 gsm, or standard printing paper. The printer could be said to span the pro/amateur ranking, much like some D-SLRs these days. Failure to do so will block the Advanced B&W mode in the Print Setup dialog box. When you want to use Epson’s excellent Advanced B&W mode choose Printer as the handler. For most work, and when you want to use specific paper profiles, choose Photoshop as the option under Color Handling. When you open the Print dialog box you begin by choosing whether the printer or Photoshop will manage color.
